Our jewelry is made from precious metals and gemstones such as 14K gold, 925 sterling silver, and others with diamonds and natural gemstones that require special care to maintain their high quality. In order to keep your jewelry sparkling and ensure a lifetime of beauty, please review the care instructions below:
General Care Tips
Remove your jewelry when you shower, bathe or engage in heavy exercise, particularly when swimming in the sea or in a pool.
All of our diamonds and gemstones are natural, therefore they’re vulnerable to absorbing dirt and to chipping. Settings may also become loose over time. Should you notice these issues, we advise a repair to ensure your piece doesn’t deteriorate in quality.
Avoid spraying perfume, applying creams, or any other liquids directly onto your jewelry.
Keep your jewelry away from extreme temperatures, humidity, or sunlight.
Avoid wearing your jewelry when using bleach, cleaning products, and other chemicals.
Storing Your Jewelry
We highly recommend storing your Magal Jewelry in the pouch it came in to prevent scratching.
Ideally, you should store each piece of jewelry separately. This prevents the rubbing, scratching, or entanglement of separate pieces.
Cleaning Precious Metals
To keep your jewelry looking radiant and to remove the build-up of dirt or premature tarnishes we recommend using a polishing cloth. Gently rub your piece in one direction to polish it; avoid circular motions that might smudge your piece.
14K Gold Pieces: Scrub lightly with a fresh toothbrush and warm water. Make sure to rinse away any excess residue. You can gently buff your 14K pieces using a jewelry cleaning cloth to get the brightest shine.
925 Sterling Silver Pieces: A silver cleaner can be used to clean 925 Sterling Silver pieces. This product can be found in most large-scale retailers or online. DO NOT use this on 18K Gold Vermeil or 18K Rose Vermeil.
18K Gold Vermeil or 18K Rose Vermeil: Gently rub these pieces in one direction with a polishing cloth; avoid circular motions that could smudge your jewelry.
DO NOT use tissue paper or paper towels to clean the precious metals as they may scratch.
Cleaning Diamonds & Gemstones
Since natural gemstones can be quite delicate, hot water, harsh chemicals, and regular cleaners should be avoided at all times.
Clean your gemstones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing them to avoid the build-up of oils.
Very porous stones such as Turquoise, Howlite, and Emerald should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Rub in a single direction, avoiding circular motions that might smudge.
We recommend that precious stones be cleaned and inspected every 12 months.
DO NOT use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they may scratch.
Cleaning String Bracelets
The best way to clean the cord on your String of Love bracelet is by occasionally washing it with a soft sponge and mild soap in lukewarm water. This should be done semi-regularly to reduce damage from the oils on your skin.
How to Prevent Tarnishing
All of our 925 Sterling Silver and 18K Vermeil products are protected with an anti-tarnish solution to prevent damage and extend the piece’s lifespan. However, this solution can wear down over time and may need to be reapplied to maintain the highest quality.
Silver is a delicate metal that tarnishes rapidly when exposed to certain substances that are common in our everyday lives. Therefore, we highly recommend that you care for, wear, and store your silver jewelry as mentioned above.
