How to take care of your jewelry?

With the arrival of summer, we wanted to recommend some cleaning and storage techniques to keep your jewelry beautiful and shiny. All our jewelry is made from beautiful materials like 14K, 18K, 10K or 925 Sterling Silver. Although these materials are of high quality, it is important to take proper care of them to ensure their durability is preserved over time. Also, some of our jewels include diamonds or gemstones that require special care to maintain their high quality. To protect your jewelry from the sun, sea, harmful pool products, or sand during summer, we have compiled a list of instructions that you can follow this summer.

General Care Tips

We strongly recommend that you remove your jewelry when you enter the sea or the pool. This will keep the material shiny, and in this way, your jewelry will be more durable. You need to keep it dry as much as possible to avoid damage. While our products are made from high-quality materials that allow for hand washing or showering, we advise against soaking them in water for extended periods, as this can affect their durability. Also, avoid applying sunscreen, lotions, or perfumes directly onto your jewelry as these chemicals can cause discoloration or tarnishing. If you need to apply these products, wait until they are fully absorbed into your skin before putting on your jewelry.

At Magal, we take pride in using only natural diamonds and high-quality gemstones in our jewelry pieces. However, it's important to keep in mind that natural stones are more vulnerable to dirt accumulation and chipping compared to synthetic stones. To keep your jewelry looking its best, we recommend taking extra care when wearing natural stones. When at the beach, we recommend storing your jewelry in well-sealed bags to prevent sand from entering and potentially causing damage.

Storage

To protect your jewelry from the heat during the summer, it's best to store them in a dry and cool place. One option is to leave them in a room while spending the day at the beach or pool. Also avoid storing multiple pieces of jewelry together. To prevent scratches, tangles, and other damage, it's best to store each piece of jewelry separately. Cleaning Precious Metals

If you accidentally get sand on your jewelry or submerge it in water, you can clean the metal to restore its shine and luster. To keep your jewelry looking radiant and to remove the build-up of dirt or premature tarnishes we recommend using a polishing cloth. Small tips, do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean the precious metals as they may scratch.

14K Gold Pieces: Scrub lightly with a fresh toothbrush and warm water. Make sure to rinse away any excess residue. You can gently buff your 14K pieces using a jewelry cleaning cloth to get the brightest shine.

925 Sterling Silver Pieces: A silver cleaner can be used to clean 925 Sterling Silver pieces. This product can be found in most large-scale retailers or online. Please do not use this on 18K Gold Vermeil or 18K Rose Vermeil.

18K Gold Vermeil or 18K Rose Vermeil: Gently rub these pieces in one direction with a polishing cloth; avoid circular motions that could smudge your jewelry.

Cleaning Tips

It’s important to clean your gemstone during the summer after the sun or the beach. Natural gemstones are delicate and require special care. To prevent damage to your jewelry, it's important to avoid exposing them to hot water, harsh chemicals, and regular cleaners. This includes avoiding wearing your jewelry while swimming in the sea, pool, or jacuzzi. You need to clean your gemstones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing them to avoid the build-up of oils.

While the sting on the String of Love Collection is water-resistant, it's important to note that the pieces often feature delicate stones, diamonds, or metal elements. Therefore, it's important to handle them with care even when the cord is resistant to water. The best way to clean the cord on your String of Love is by washing it semi-regularly with a soft sponge and mild soap in lukewarm water. This helps to reduce damage from the oils on your skin.
